Sree Kolodi Vishnu Temple is located 18 km from the city center in Kozhikode district on the Narikkuni route near the Upper Palli Manak in Pullalur.
Vamanamoorthy, one of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, is one of the rarest deities in Kerala.
Many years ago, a very ascetic Brahmin from Melpalli Mana went to bathe in a large pool on the north - eastern side of the mana to greet the evening. At that moment he saw an unni coming down from the north side of the forest to bathe in the pool. Then he said to Unni, "Unni, do not go for a bath in the north. There is a possibility of beasts coming from the forest in the north, so Unni should come to the south shore." Ignoring these words, Unni took a bath and went into the forest. The great Brahmin went after Unni, searching for the reason why a very glorious boy had gone into the forest. When it went a long way, it's amazing that Unni disappeared on the way.
When the astonished Brahmin sage immediately came to the house and called the astrologers and inquired about the problem, he realized that the Unni was the last dwarf deity, Vamana Moorthi of Vishnu Chaithanya. Kolodi Vishnu Temple derives its name from the way it was used to perform devotional rituals in a hidden place while fleeing from the pool.
