About Temple

Kalarikkal Bhagwati Temple is located at Vayalkara in Kunnukara Panchayath in Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam District .It is very ancient.

The main deity is Sri Bhadrakali Devi .The Goddess resides here in the form of Ugra Murthy after the slaying of Darika. Mahadevan resides in the form of deer and ax abhayavardha and Sri Dharmasastha in the form of Chinmudra.

There are idols of deities like Sri Vellam Bhagwati, Sri Durga, Brahmarakshas, serpents, Karinagayakshi and Arukola.

The festival is associated with the Kumbha Bharani .Siveli and Vilakku Ezhunnallippu are held every day after the flag hoisting. Ashwati Pongala is celebrated in the morning, Shiveli, Panchari Melam and Lakshadweep Lamp Ezhunnallippu Pandi Melam are held on the sixth day of the festival.

On the sixth day, Aratt, Bharaniuttu, Kalamezhuthum Pattum, Thalappoli and Mudiyettu are held .The Guruthi is held on the seventh day after the festival.
