About Temple

To train the army force of Alangad subkingdom , the King of Alangad bright a famous warrior from Eranad . He was known as Chembola Karanavar . He was allotted land for construction of Kalari ,a martial art of Kerala used by warriors during war .Kalari was constructed near to the fort . The King gave places such as Eloor, Alangad , Karumaloor , Kunnukara without tax in copper foil ( chembola) to the Karanavar of Eranad . So he was known as Chembola Kurupu.

He established Kalari at Alangad , Eloor , Kunnukara & Karumaloor . The Karanavar and his team brought the idol of Goddess of Kalari and sword and a " shoolam " , the spear with three heads seen on the hand of Lord Shiva. The sword was kept in Chembola kalari , Shoolam in the Kalari at Pattupurakkal along with the idol of Goddess Para Shakthi . It is believed that the same Shoolam is seen at Pattupurakkal Kalari

ആലങ്ങാട് കളരി ക്ഷേത്രം

കേരളത്തിലെ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ ആലുവയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രം .ആലങ്ങാട് ഉപരാജ്യത്തിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെ പരിശീലിപ്പിക്കാൻ, ആലങ്ങാട് രാജാവ് ഏറനാട്ടിലെ ഒരു പ്രശസ്ത യോദ്ധാവിനെ ഏർപ്പാടാക്കി . ചെമ്പോല കാരണവർ എന്നാണ് അദ്ദേഹം അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്. യുദ്ധസമയത്ത് യോദ്ധാക്കൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്ന കേരളത്തിലെ ആയോധന കലയായ കളരിയുടെ നിർമ്മാണത്തിനായി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് സ്ഥലം അനുവദിച്ചു .കോട്ടയോട് ചേർന്നാണ് കളരി നിർമ്മിച്ചത് . ഏലൂർ, ആലങ്ങാട്, കരുമാലൂർ, കുന്നുകര തുടങ്ങിയ സ്ഥലങ്ങൾ ചെമ്പോലയിൽ (ചെമ്പോല) നികുതിയില്ലാതെ ഏറനാട്ടിലെ കാരണവർക്ക് രാജാവ് നൽകി. അതിനാൽ അദ്ദേഹം ചെമ്പോല കുറുപ്പു എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടു.
