About Temple

Sree Mookkumpuzha Devi Temple is one of the ancient temples in south India. It is situated at Pandarathuruth,Karunagapalli in Kollam District, Kerala, India. Devi is the presiding deity of this temple.The festival is conducted during the month of Makaram. This is an occasion when the entire city becomes focused on the temple. The streets are made colourful on the festival days with colourful processions. Tender coconut frond and plantain leaf-stalks are also used for street decoration.

ശ്രീ മൂക്കുംപുഴ ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം

ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യയിലെ പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ശ്രീ മൂക്കുംപുഴ ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം. കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ കരുനാഗപ്പള്ളിയിലെ പണ്ടാരത്തുരുത്തിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ദേവിയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. മകരമാസത്തിലാണ് ഉത്സവം നടക്കുന്നത്. നഗരം മുഴുവൻ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്ന സന്ദർഭമാണിത്. പെരുന്നാൾ ദിനങ്ങളിൽ വർണാഭമായ ഘോഷയാത്രകളോടെ തെരുവുകൾ വർണാഭമാക്കും. ഇളം തെങ്ങിൻ തണ്ടും വാഴയുടെ ഇലത്തണ്ടുകളും തെരുവ് അലങ്കാരത്തിന് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.
