The Punnamkonam Sree Bhagavathy Temple is located in an area called Kachani near Vattiyurkav in Thiruvananthapuram district. The temple is only 11 km from Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station and 12 km from Kizhakke Kota.
The main deity of the temple is Bala Durga. The temple also has deities like Paramashivan, Maha Ganapathy, Bhadrakali, Manthramoorthy - Yogeeswaran and Brahmarakshas.
Nagarukavu is another special feature of this temple. In this Nagarukavu where poojas and other things have been done since ancient times, Aayilya Pooja and special poojas are held continuously every month. Annadhanam is also done after Aayilya Pooja.
The temple pool is situated between the temple and Nagarukavu. Punnamkonam Nagarukav is famous for its fame and antiquity. Kavu is located just 100 meters away from the temple. Special poojas for the Naga Gods are performed in Kavu on every Aayilyam day. It includes Noorum Paalum and Nagasuktarchana. Also, every year on Uthsavam day, Mavelikkara Purathikkad Nagaputhra is the main karmikan of Kalamezhuthu pattu Pooja. The Sarpabali Pooja, which is performed only once in five years, is very famous.
