Thiruvambadi is a beautiful village situated between Kaduthuruthy and Kuravilangad in Vaikom Taluk.In this Village Situated the oldest beautiful SreeKrishna Swami temple. The temple has a rare idol of Goshala Krishna. The idol of Balagopala is a cowboy with a cane and a broken horn in his hand. This colossal idol made of Anjana stone is only two feet high Many cows were once raised on either side of the chariot-shaped shrine. Even if these cows gave birth or died in the barn, the temple was not defiled.Theertham falling from the shrine is a delight here. Devotees believe that palm oil, one of the prasads, is a cure for childhood ailments. The name Thiruvambadi is derived from the temple which has a history of over a thousand years. The main day of the month is Ashtami Rohini in the month of Chingam. The anointing and incarnation poojas are performed on the night of Lord Krishna's birth.
വൈക്കം താലൂക്കിലെ കടുത്തുരുത്തിക്കും കുറവിലങ്ങാടിനും ഇടയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന മനോഹരമായ ഒരു ഗ്രാമമാണ് തിരുവമ്പാടി. ഈ ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് ഏറ്റവും പഴയ മനോഹരമായ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഗോശാല കൃഷ്ണന്റെ അപൂർവ വിഗ്രഹമാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലുള്ളത്. കൈയിൽ ചൂരലും ഒടിഞ്ഞ കൊമ്പും പിടിച്ച പശുപാലകനാണ് ബാലഗോപാല വിഗ്രഹം. അഞ്ജന ശിലയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച ഈ ഭീമാകാരമായ വിഗ്രഹത്തിന് രണ്ടടി മാത്രം ഉയരമുണ്ട്, രഥത്തിന്റെ ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള ശ്രീകോവിലിന്റെ ഇരുവശത്തും ഒരുകാലത്ത് നിരവധി പശുക്കളെ വളർത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഈ പശുക്കൾ തൊഴുത്തിൽ പ്രസവിച്ചാലും ചത്താലും ക്ഷേത്രം അശുദ്ധമായില്ല. ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ നിന്ന് വീഴുന്ന തീർത്ഥം ഇവിടെ ആനന്ദകരമാണ്. പ്രസാദങ്ങളിലൊന്നായ ഈന്തപ്പഴം കുട്ടിക്കാലത്തെ അസുഖങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രതിവിധിയാണെന്നാണ് ഭക്തരുടെ വിശ്വാസം. ആയിരത്തിലധികം വർഷത്തെ ചരിത്രമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് തിരുവമ്പാടി എന്ന പേര് ലഭിച്ചത്. ചിങ്ങമാസത്തിലെ അഷ്ടമി രോഹിണിയാണ് മാസത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ദിവസം. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ ജനിച്ച രാത്രിയിലാണ് അഭിഷേകവും അവതാരപൂജകളും നടത്തുന്നത്.
